How often should you post?

This is the age old question for most bloggers how much is to much or not enough. The answers is there is no set answer
, but there are few things to keep in mind when deciding how often to post.
- Don’t post so much that your readers never have a chance to see your content , posting multiple times a day or even daily may push some great content to the back burner before your readers really have a chance to see,
- Don’t post so infrequently that your viewers get bored with the same thing or even worse they aren’t sure if you’re ever going to post again. You want to hold interest with new and exciting content, so it’s important that if a visitors stops in every few days there is something there to see.
- T here is a little trick around this last tip, if you know in advance that you’re only going to post once a week or once month. Tell readers up front make your blog a weekly digest or monthly newsletter .If you name it as such viewers will expect to only see content at the time. Also encourage them to subscribe so when new content is added they get an alert. If you choose this option I would suggest posting a few new items at one time so it’s be like a full month or week long snap shot.
- Last, Be consistent don’t post everyday for a week and then switch to once a week or month. It’s ok to skip a day or 2 but if your readers are used to daily post and all of the sudden you don’t post for a month or 2 readers just think you stopped blogging. There are thousands of blogs that are created and abandoned everyday often with no notice.

I really like this post. It has always been kind of tricky for me when or when not to post. I finally decided on my 2 main blogs, I would post 2-3 times a week. That way I can do research and write strong , serious articles as opposed to daily fluff.
Thanx for this post. Great advice.
Great post. Very helpful because I was asking myself this question the other day. I post an average of 2-4 a week. As my blog title suggests, it’s very “random” because I write only when I’m inspired.
I definitely agree with this post. The key is to be consistent with your posts and to keep readers interested. If you’re going to be gone awhile, explain why (just a short little post). I don’t think posting every day is a bad thing, but I do try and spread mine out a little more.
Great tips I usually try to post at least 3-5 times a week and If for some reason I am not going to be posting i always let my readers know.
Great article! My goal was to post everyday, and I received great feedback, although I knew it was a little much for some of my readers. Sometimes I would post everyday, two posts a day. But it helped me especially since there was a lot I wanted to share and I had backlogged. Now I think I’m going to scale back to a goal of 4 times a week.
When I have a lot of ideas for posts, I write them and then schedule them out for about a week or 2. This works good for me because I don’t over load with to much at one time and i have plenty waiting in the wings in case I don’t have time or energy later in the week.
It sounds like the key is in striking a good balance between frequency of blogging and fresh content. Thanks so much for posting these helpful tips.
I try to get mine in every few days… its happened where a whole 10 days have gone by without my even noticing, but then those trusty readers of mine send me a friendly ‘get back to work email’ to keep me on my toes. I love my readers.
I think a 3 times a week is a good amount on average, it keeps regulars happy and gives newcomers time to catch up.
Very good article.
Great advice. I find myself very inconsistent at times and I seem to lose focus easily. I would love to post at least 3-4 times a week, but it’s extremely hard to find the time to do that every week. Especially since it takes me up to an hour just to write and edit one post.
I have tons of ideas that I jot down daily, but I can never seem to get around to them as quickly as I would like to. Any advice on how to work blogging into your daily schedule would be very useful to me right now.
I am a weekly blogger and I put a line of “New here? Start here” with a link to an intro to my blog and how to leave comments and information that I only update on Mondays. I also go back on Mondays and check mostly all of my followers blogs to let them know that I’m around for the week and they stop by my blog pretty usually after I post a comment to theirs. I like this info. too. Thanks for it.
My best, Lynn
I agree with BrownBetty. I like to schedule my posts. I am a daily blogger with a different topic each day but some days I am not inspired to write while other days I can crank out several posts. Using WordPress allows me to schedule the time and the date for the posts to be released so that my readers know that the content will be consistently delivered. I think this would work for less frequent writers as well. It takes a lot of pressure off of the writer
while keeping the readers on schedule. BTW: I also use HootSuite to schedule my tweets to alert my followers that a new post has been listed. Most of this usually happens before I have even logged onto my computer for the day.

When starting my blog this was one of my main questions… I opted to post M-F and that has really worked for me especially since I’m new to blogging.
I normally post every other day but lately I’ve been posting everyday. After reading this post it may be better for me to go back to posting every other day. Thanks!
